One of the best actresses in the business, Sandra Bullock, will receive the Hollywood Actress Award at the 17th annual Hollywood Film Awards on Oct. 21 at the Beverly Hilton, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The 49-year-old "Gravity" star has acted in numerous films of different genres. Her performances in most of them had been praised by fans and critics alike. Some of her noted films are "Speed" by Jan De Bont, "While You Were Sleeping by Jon Turteltaub, "A Time to Kill" by Joel Schumacher, "Practical Magic" by Griffin Dunne, "Hope Floats" by Forest Whitaker, "Miss Congeniality" by Donald Petrie, "Infamous" by Douglas McGrath, "Murder by Numbers" by Barbet Schroeder, "Extremely Loud and Close" by Stephen Daldry, "Crash" by Paul Haggis, "The Proposal" by Anne Fletcher, "Two Weeks Notice" by Alejandro Agresti, and "Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood" by Callie Khouri. Bullock took the Oscar for the best actress award for her spectacular performance in "The Blind Side."

It is also being speculated that she might bag the second Oscar nomination for her work in 3D space drama, "Gravity" along with actor buddy George Clooney. She earned some of the best reviews for her acting in "Gravity."

The Hollywood Film Awards came about by the efforts of founder and executive director Carlos Abreu. Hollywood Film Awards in collaboration with Dick Clark Productions will bring the televised version in the coming years.
