After six months of keeping the public in the dark, Biker and Sandra Bullock's ex-husband, Jesse James confirmed his engagement to Kat Von D, and declared that the tattoo artist agreed to be his fourth wife.

Aceshowbiz noted that James expressed his appreciation for the tattoo artist who he said 'stood by him when the world turned their backs' on him. James was referring to his publicized divorce with Sandra which was cemented as the news of his scandalized cheating broke out.

"You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend. An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs", James was quoted as saying by the Aceshowbiz.

Though admitting that they began as friends, James and Von D began dating in summer last year.

Rumors of their engagement first broke out in October 2010 when Von D was seen wearing a huge antique ring at a book signing. But the couple refused to provide comment on the issue until today.

Von D earlier told USA Today that she is 'uncomfortable talking about it [engagement]'.

No date has been set yet but should the wedding bells drum up Hollywood, this is going to be the fourth marriage for James while second for Von D.
