Santa Justin Bieber Gives a Car to Friend on Christmas
Christmas may be the season for giving, but what Justin Bieber did was way beyond call of friendship.
Bieber, 17, surprised his childhood friend Ryan Butler with a holiday gift that every teenage boy (and grown man) wants - a spanking new Mustang convertible.
The Canadian pop sensation was modest, not even hinting about his extravagant present, but Butler couldn't keep quiet.
"Justin got me a present," he writes on his Twitter account, with an image of the white car.
Bieber didn't take the bait, preferring instead to share about how much he's enjoying spending some down time with his family.
"Spending time with the family - feels really good," he tweets.
The Daily Mail reports the two best friends grew up together in Ontario, where Butler's British-born folks pitched in "additional parenting" for Bieber when his mother was having a difficult time.
If his friend received a car, one can only guess what the "Baby" star got his family or girlfriend Selena Gomez.
Bieber is well-known for splurging on expensive gifts, having famously spent $30,000 on a Chanel watch for Gomez when she was recuperating from a hospital stint.
And the young superstar does not limit his giving during the holiday season or to close friends and family.
Charities have greatly benefitted from Bieber's generosity, and DoSomething.org recognize his efforts. The volunteer organization compiled the "Top 20 Celebs Gone Good for 2011" and the 17-year-old singer was second only to Lady Gaga, who topped the list for the second consecutive time.
Bieber spearheaded the "Believe Charity Drive", with the goal of raising millions of dollars for various charities.
"I am launching the Believe Charity Drive because I know firsthand that if you believe in your dreams, everything is possible. The Believe Charity Drive directly benefits charities that are making a difference in the world," he says in an official statement.
Making good use of his undeniable star power, Bieber also teamed up with Pencils of Promise for a national competition, "Schools 4 All". It invites communities to raise money through an online fundraising page, and the winner gets to choose the school that the teen heartthrob will visit.
Talk about using fame and wealth for all the right causes.
