Hey Dad! star Sarah Monahan spent more than 35 hours with the police. She was allegedly sexually abused by her onscreen dad Robert Hughes and had to spend time with the police to give details on how it happened. The actress used to play Jenny, Hughes' youngest on-screen daughter.

Detectives worked with the NSW (New South Whales) sex crimes squad in investigating and interviewing the cast and crew of the TV sitcom with regard to allegations of multiple sexual abuse. They refused to give any information about the ongoing investigations.

Ms Monahan, now 33, filed her complaints two months ago. She described talking with police Strike Force Ruskin as something relieving, especially 20 years after the abuse happened.

She encouraged the other victims to step forward, saying on her website, "For anyone still scared of going to the police, I encourage you to do so."

"While yes, you do have to go into every little detail, think of it as therapy."

She adds, "It shouldn't be a dirty little secret that people are ashamed to talk about. People need to stand up and be heard."

Hughes, who now lives with in Singapore with wife Robyn Gardiner, denied the allegations. He said that he plans to file countercharges, specifically defamation, come March.
