Sarah Palin’s Facebook Wisecrack on Global Warming Goes Viral
To indicate her disbelief in the concept of global warming, former Republican Party vice presidential candidate and Alaska Governor Sarah Palin posted a naughty remark in her Facebook account.
The post, which was a photo of her youngest daughter Piper playing in snow with paragraph that contains the line "Global warming my gluteus maximus," has gone viral on social media sites.
For those not familiar with scientific terms, gluteus maximus in layman's term are the muscles of the buttocks and her use of those words is seen as a polite way to say "Global warming my ass."
Ms Palin's complete post on Sunday, which was liked by so far more than 15,000 people reads: "One last blast of Alaska winter today, hopefully? This is what 'Grad Blast' means in Alaska! We'll move our graduation b-b-q indoors and watch the mini-blizzard from 'round the fireplace. (Global warming my gluteus maximus.) Congratulations to this year's graduates all across America. Job well done. Now the real job begins."
The post elicited more than 2,000 comments so far, with pro- and anti-global warming remarks.
Joel Windham pointed out, "The local weather and climate change are two separate things. Don't confuse the two."
Iam Quang retorted, "Global warming (climate change or whatever the heck democrats/liberals/socialists/communists people call it) is a SCAM created by those people to get RICH."
Susan Smith agreed that the former governor saw the big picture and quoted a Forbes article that most of the greenhouse effect felt is because of water vapor, which should have made the EPA designate H20 as a harmful pollutant.
But Dave Ross asked, "Could this excess of water vapour be attributed to melting polar caps, rising oceans?"
Connie Corey stressed that the world has been going through global weather changes for millions of years and continues to do so, adding that the process does not happen overnight.
Ms Palin's Facebook post is seen as her reaction to the Monday speech of Rhode Island Democratic Senator Sheldon Whitehouse who hit the Republicans for their stand on climate change, unaware that while delivering the speech a powerful tornado has hit Oklahoma.
She has consistently shared her thoughts on global warming during her 2008 vice presidential campaign that people do not influence changes in climate.
