Saturday Night Live Goes Cameo-Crazy with Amy Poehler, Tracy Morgan & Tina Fey
Last Saturday's "Saturday Night Live" episode is one for the books: Not only was it filled with cameos by SNL alums, but it also evokes well-loved SNL episodes of the past.
"Jimmy Fallon returned to his old stomping grounds, bringing on the holiday cheer during the show's Christmas-themed episode and making the transition from former cast member to first-time SNL host," reported E! Online of the recent guesting of the host for "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon."
Fallon is known for bringing in different characters for the show. By 2009, he took over from fellow SNL alum Conan O'Brien as the host for "Late Night." Aside from the late night talk show, he also had several movies such as "Taxi," "Almost Famous" and "Whip It."
With Fallon returning to host SNL for the first time, a bunch of other SNL alums such as Tina Fey, Rachel Dratch and Amy Poehler. All of which, aside from Dratch, popped in for Weekend Update alongside current anchor Seth Meyer.
"Kicking off the show with a reprisal of his Boston native character Sully, Fallon and Dratch brought back their beloved Denise and Sully sketch in the cold open, with their infamous impromptu make-out sessions to boot ('You're a moron. You are!').
Poehler even popped up in the sketch (and got fondled by Fallon while she was at it)," continued E! Online about one of the many well-missed sketches done on the show.
As expected, Fallon did impersonations of several celebrities like Regis Philbin, Justin Bieber and Russell Brand. However, he was not alone in doing impersonations, as Kristin Wiig took on Taylor Swift, Kanye West was done by Jay Pharoah, Taran Killiam did Scotty McCreery, and Fred Armison managed a pretty good Thom Yorke.
Fallon himself was not spared from being spoofed, as Andy Samberg donned the cape of the late night TV host in the mirror bit, where he sat in front of the glass talking to himself about the guesting, while Samberg comically played Fallon.
Tracy Morgan, Chris Kattan and Horatio Sanz were also present during the episode.
With former SNL cast members pouring into the latest episode, fans can't help but get excited for more alumni cameos in the near future.
