"Scandal" Season 3 is turning out to be a season that is digging-up the past of the principal characters. In "More Cattle, Less Bull," Huck was able to figure out that President Fitz was responsible for bringing down a commercial plane, near Iceland, that killed more than 300 passengers, including Olivia's mother.

The new revelation is "not good for Liv and Fitz," Tony Goldwyn, who plays President Fitz in "Scandal," said to The Hollywood Reporter.

In episode five of "Scandal" Season 3, Olivia refused Josie's offer to join her team as campaign manager. Josie had hired her, then fired her, and again contacted her with the offer. Olivia refused Josie's offer after Mellie approached her to handle President's campaign. Mellie told Olivia to come back as the President needs her. After her talk with Mellie, Olivia was taking a trip down the memory lane (her time with the President) when Huck and Jack knocked at her doors with the incriminating evidence against the President.

Talking about whether his character knew that Olivia's mother is one of the passengers, Goldwyn said to The Hollywood Reporter, "He didn't know; he is completely in the dark. I can't tell you how Fitz finds out, but he had no idea about it. In that same way, he has no idea that Rowan is Olivia's father."

"As far as Fitz knew, he was a young special forces' pilot and doing black ops operation and he had no clue. Operation Remington was a dark chapter in Fitz's career..."

The actor also said that Olivia's decision to join President Fitz's campaign is now going to become "a lot" complicated. "... it's a problem and it is not pretty."

In the upcoming episodes, "her (Olivia) mother becomes a major issue in her life," Goldwyn said.

Official Synopsis of "Scandal" Season 3, Episode 6, "Icarus,": "Olivia must make a very important decision that will affect all of her relationships in the White House, and Harrison's allegiance to the Gladiators is tested. Meanwhile, the team continues to prep Josie Marcus while Cyrus and Mellie plot against her."
