‘Scandal’ Season 3 Returns: Top Spoilers of Episode 11, ‘Ride, Sally, Ride’
The episode opens with Mellie informing Cyrus that "she [Sally] is running." Sally has decided to run against Fitz in the upcoming Presidential elections. As the new press secretary, James is trying to come-up with ideas to answer the waiting press. Cyrus wants to see the poll results before making any announcement. The poll numbers are with the President, and the President is discussing them with his new campaign manager, Olivia.
Olivia and Fitz are busy kissing when Mellie walks into the President's office. The two join Mellie, Cyrus, James and rest of the Fitz team to discuss the poll numbers. Olivia wants selfish quitter, loose cannon, and endangering the troops to be the talking points against Sally. And, at the same time, Sally makes an announcement that she intends to run as well as stay as the Vice President.
Fitz picks Andrew Nichols, Governor of California, to be his Vice President, as he is loyal and someone Fitz can trust. Olivia and Mellie do not see Nichols as the right candidate. He has an image of a playboy. Fitz is firm on his decision. Later, Olivia tells Fitz that her gut says that Nichols is not the right candidate.
Jake tells Charles that Quinn is not B-613 and never shall be. Olivia finds out from Cyrus that Jake is the new boss of B-613 thanks to Fitz. Olivia goes to meet her father, and tell him that she knows what happened, and that she is sorry. He tells her that she does not know what happened and what is happening, as she is running around in a minefield, thinking it is full of daisies. Rowan tells his daughter that Fitz has made a worst enemy and he knows all his secrets. However, the greatest weapon Rowan can use against Fitz calls him dad. He tells Olivia to run away from the burning building called White House, and tells Fitz to be very afraid and Olivia to be terrified. Rowan warns Olivia that Fitz is not going to make it till the end of his term, and wants her to run.
Olivia wants Huck and Abby to dig-up everything on the death of Daniel Douglas. She wants to use that dirt to stop Sally. Huck and Abby meet Linda who had prepared the Coroner's report on Douglas' death. Linda says that she is confident that Douglas died of heart-attack. Huck and Abby pull out some of her past record to make Linda spill out the truth. Charles and Quinn have kidnapped Linda's son and that stops her from giving the real version. Linda makes up a different version of the lie.
Olivia tells Fitz that she wants to resign, as every report is talking about their relationship. Mellie wants Olivia to start dating other men. Fitz, however, refuses to accept Olivia's resignation, telling her that she cannot leave him and he is not losing her again. Fitz tells Olivia that he won't win without her. Olivia demands to know why he made Jake the command of B613. Fitz tells her thatbecause he trusts him and wants to win the re-election.
James records Joe and Cyrus talk about Douglas' death and hands it over to David. James tells David that his husband is a monster and he is powerful. However, Cyrus has a weakness and according to James it is him. James wants to take Cyrus down, and has been implanting suspicion about Douglas' death in the press.
Jakes visits Olivia and he tells her that he can do better than her father. Later, Olivia makes Jake her rumoured lover, telling Fitz that it is the only way she can be working for his campaign. Leo meets Rowan, while Fitz is introducing his Vice President candidate, Nichols. The man has a thing for Mellie.
