‘Scandal’ Season 3 SPOILERS Ep. 7: Olivia’s Mom Alive, Fitz’s Father Molested Mellie in ‘Everything’s Coming Up Mellie’
"Scandal" Season 3 Episode 7, "Everything's Coming Up Mellie," is the episode to watch, with secrets tumbling out and new revelations. Operation Remington is the key that has unlocked a cupboard full of dark secrets and shady dealings.
Through flashbacks, the episode showed the first time Cyrus was introduced to Fitz and Mellie by Fitz's father. Cyrus wanted to project Fitz as a war hero during his campaign for the seat of California's Governor. Fitz had objected to that as he was unwilling to fight an election on a lie. Cyrus had said to Mellie at the time that the husband is her charity case, a full-time work and she needs to help him.
At the time, Fitz's father had revealed to Mellie that there was a dirty bomb in the commercial airliner and Fitz is the one who brought it down. If the airliner had reached its target, it could have taken half of London and could have started a World War 3. Later, Fitz's father had forced himself upon Mellie.
Mellie had kept her mouth shut on a condition that Fitz's father tells his son what he wants to hear and not that he did everything wrong and made wrong choices like joining the Navy.
Olivia gets a call from the President and he tells her that he loves her but cannot tell her anything about Operation Remington. He wants her to keep away from Jack and not to dig deeper into Operation Remington as it is dangerous. In the begging of the episode, he is not aware that Rowan is Olivia's father. However at the end of the episode, he is going through Olivia's file and gets to see her father's old photograph.
Olivia tells her team about the shooting down of the commercial airliner and that her mother was one of the passengers. She reveals to them that Rowan is her father, and that it is the President who shot down the plane. Her team of gladiators are sure that they are going to help her find the truth.
The team's investigation unearth that it is Fitz's father who headed the committee that probed the commercial airliner crash. Also, a passenger, Omar Dresden, was not allowed to board that plane. Before Jack can question that passenger (working as a security), Quinn kills him, unintentionally. Charlie is responsible for making her a murder and he has a video recording of her crime. He tells Quinn, "Welcome to Wonderland!"
At the end of the episode, Rowan visits a high security prison and wakes up a woman, telling her that "our daughter's been asking about you." It is Olivia's mom.
