Presidential election will be the main focus of the story-lines for the upcoming eight episodes of "Scandal" Season 3. President Fitz's wife, Mellie, will be right beside him for his re-election. These two are likely to be seen working together for the re-election campaign. However, the entry of a new character might change the ruffled equation between Fitz and Mellie.

Bellamy Young, who plays the role of Mellie, said to TV Guide: "We're [Fitz and Mellie] going to spend a lot of time with the campaign, so it's the machinations of trying to get us back in the White House for another four years."

As reported earlier, Jon Tenney has been roped-in to portray Mellie's potential love interest. The introduction of Tenney's character is likely to flare-up the conflict between Fitz and Mellie. Bellamy said that her rumoured love interest "will throw a wrench in the works in the very best of ways."

Fitz's re-election campaign might get complicated because of a number of factors. These factors include his relationship with Olivia. Betsy Beers, executive producers of "Scandal," had said to TV Line that these two love birds are entwined in some "odd and new ways" which is going to continue.

Additional loose-ends include Fitz's helping a terrorist get out of the country, his Vice President killing her husband, and putting Jake in Rowan's seat, making him the new command of B316. If the media get a sniff of these, Fitz's re-election campaign is likely to be besmirched. Also, he had shot down a commercial airliner, killing more than 300 innocent passengers.

The episode 11 of "Scandal" Season is called "Ride Sally Ride," which is scheduled to air on February 27, 2014. The current season has been truncated to 18 episodes because of Kerry Washington's real life pregnancy.

When "Scandal" returns, it will be interesting to watch what Mom Pope is up to. Also, Olivia will come to know about Jake being the new command. Olivia's reaction to the news is worth watching.
