‘Scandal’ Season 4 Spoilers: Tony Goldwyn Talks About Olivia, Fitz Relationship
"Scandal" Season 4 opened with Olivia and Jake's sexual act under the open, sunny sky. As he had wished, Jake was standing in the sun with Olivia at an Island. The beach time, however, did not last long, as Olivia returned to Washington DC to arrange the funeral of Harrison and decided to hold the reins of her old life and not return to the island. Once she returned the capital, Olivia's relationship with both Jake and Fitz got complicated, as Jake is her boyfriend but she loves Fitz. She sleeps with Jake but could not stop herself from kissing Fitz, passionately. Both Fitz and Jake did not give the impression that they are giving up on her.
Speaking about Olivia and Fitz's relationship, Tony Goldwyn, who plays Fitz in "Scandal," said to TV Guide, that he believes that there is still hope for Fitz and Olivia's relationship. According to the actor, Fitz would "never give up on the fantasy," as "that's what keeps him alive."
Goldwyn revealed that his character is "absolutely resolute in his certainty" that if he and Olivia are given a chance, "they would have a great, healthy relationship." Fitz, according to the actor, believes that he and Olivia are "the answer for one another no matter what."
Fitz thinks that if they can keep that status quo intact, all the other issues would sort itself out, Goldwyn said to TV Guide. He added, "... circumstances and Olivia herself have conspired against him." The actor said that Olivia wants everything, adding that she "wants to have her cake and eat it, too."
In episode 9 of "Scandal" Season 4, "Where the Sun Don't Shine," Olivia said to Jake, after he told her that he loves her, that she is not choosing anyone but she is choosing herself. She wants Vermont with Fitz but she also wants the Sun with Jake. At the end of the episode, Olivia disappeared. Goldwyn has said that Olivia's disappearance is going to "really test" Fitz and he is likely to work with Jake to find her.
"Scandal" Season 4 will be returning on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, with episode 10.
