Jake Gets Framed For the Murder of President's Son: In the last episode, Jake figured out that it is Rowan who ordered the killing of Jerry and Harrison. He gave Rowan a chance to disappear so that Olivia is not hurt again. Rowan remained unruffled. In episode 4 of "Scandal" Season 4, Jake escapes getting killed in a car bomb blast. He wants to tell Olivia the truth but Olivia is busy solving Karen's problem. Jake tries to make a deal with Tom, telling him that after Rowan kills him, he will be the next target. Soon afterwards, a senior security official informs Fitz that there is some discrepancy in Tom's schedule. Two days before the election, he was at Fort Detrick when was supposed to be at the White House. This information makes Fitz suspect that Tom has something to do with his son's murder. Jake arrives at the Oval office with evidence but Fitz does not have time to talk to him. Tom is taken in for questioning. When the official is questioning Tom, Rowan arrives to interrogate Tom. It is Fitz who had called him. Tom says that it is Jake Ballard who ordered him to kill the President's son. Jake, who is waiting for the Presidents, gets arrested.

Sex-Tape of President's Daughter: Olivia gets a call from Karen. She enters a house full of partying youngsters and in a room, she finds Karen, who is only in her bra and panties. The President's daughter is drunk and so wasted that she can hardly stand up. Quinn and Olivia help Karen get out of the place, without anyone finding out her identity. Huck helps by blocking all the phones at the party. The three feel that they have dodged the bullet but Karen soon receives a sex tape on her phone, featuring her in a threesome act. Olivia returns to the Oval office with Karen. Fitz wants her to stop the sex tape from getting leaked, as that would ruin his daughter's life. One of the boys in the video had sent the clip to Karen and the boy's parents come to meet Olivia. The two see an opportunity to get rich and they ask for a hefty amount in exchange for erasing the sex tape. When the parents want more money from the President, Olivia fixes them, telling them that she would spin the tale and make it a case of child pornography and put the blame on them for the video.

Olivia and Fitz's Reunion: It does not end on a great note, as Olivia tells him that she did not go solo but she went with Jake. She also stops Fitz from kissing her, though she, too, wanted to kiss him. Fitz feels that he has failed as a man, as well.
