In Scandal Season 3 Episode 2, "Who's Coming to Dinner," Olivia Pope's (Kerry Washington) estranged relationship with her father, Rowan (Joe Morton), is explored via flashbacks. The flashbacks reveal that Rowan, the head of B613, and his daughter Olivia have an arrangement of dinner on Sunday nights and that she was engaged to Senator Edison.

Rowan's B-613 has Jack (Scott Foley). Olivia tells her father that their Sunday night arrangement will be back if he saves the life of Jack. But, Jack's life can be safe for sure only when Jeanine's (Samantha Sloyan) name is pronounced as the mistress of President Fitz (Tony Goldwyn), and Olivia does not get involved. Olivia is in a fix.

Before Olivia could do anything and clear Jeanine's name, Melissa plays her game and presents Jeanine with an offer hard to refuse -- two million tax-free dollars if she tells that she had an affair with the President. But it is the President who himself declares to the press about his affair with Jeanine.

A battered Jack returns and appears in front of Olivia. Rowan reminds Olivia about the dinner on Sunday night and that he will pick the wine.

Huck (Guillermo Diaz) finally comes to know that the man who messed up his life is Olivia's father and that Olivia kept it a secret. He confronts Olivia, violently demanding to know the truth and if Rowan is her father.

Guillermo said to The Hollywood Reporter that "The moment when he (Huck) attacks her and throws her up against the car, I don't think he knew what he was doing until a couple of seconds after it happened."

"... part of him feels like she deserves it a bit because that was a pretty big secret to keep from Huck -- that her father was the one that put him in this hole that kept him from seeing his wife and child again. As shocking as it is to see him become physical with Olivia, it's a bit justifiable."
