Scared Gwyneth Paltrow testifies against stalker who stalked her for 17 years, breaks down briefly
Gwyneth Paltrow testified against her alleged stalker on Monday. A man named Dante Soiu has been accused of stalking the actress, sending her upsetting letters discussing her death and his intention to marry her. The man also sent her unsolicited gifts such as pair of earrings, clothes and a Weight Watchers cookbook and pornography.
Although Soiu stalked the Oscar-winning actress for 17 years, the trial focuses on the 66 messages he sent between 2009 and 2015, reports The Guardian. Paltrow broke down briefly during the two and a half hour trial, stating that she worried about her child’s safety. However, she regained her composure soon after.

“I’m scared because the communications completely defy logic. I’ve been dealing with his for 17 years with the communications from this man,” said Paltrow.
Paltrow mostly remained calm during the trial but seemed terribly concerned. She identified Soiu wearing a blue shirt and gray sweater. The 43-year-old actress was dressed in black slacks and a white turtleneck.
In 2000, Soiu was found not guilty by reason of insanity. The 2000 trial also involved messages he sent to Paltrow, pornography as well as sex toys. Apparently, Soiu wanted to clean Platrow of her sins. He was sent to a mental institution where he stayed for several years. However, last year, he was again arrested after he sent new letters to Paltrow.
Paltrow said she was quite disturbed after she received a letter that asked Paltrow to bow to death. In another letter, Soiu wrote, “I have a goal: to marry Gwyneth Paltrow and take care of her.” Paltrow easily recognised Soiu’s handwriting as she has been receiving letters for 17 years.
Paltrow won an Oscar for her role in “Shakespeare in Love” in 1999. She has two children with her estranged partner and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin. The two filed for divorce in April 2015 though it’s still pending.
