Scientists Blast ‘Jurassic World’ For Inaccuracies [Watch Trailer]
"Jurassic World" may be just another movie, but scientists are not happy with the inaccuracies in the movie. Fans of the franchise were excited when the first full trailer of the movie was released two days ago. The trailer has been watched on YouTube by over 18 million.
"Jurassic World" will take the viewers back to the theme park seen in the 1993 movie. But experts believe that the movie may have been stuck in the 1990s, failing to take advantage of all the scientific discoveries about dinosaurs since then. A casual search on the social media site Twitter will reveal some of the concerns that scientists have.
The inaccuracies pointed out so far have been mostly about the size of two dinosaurs shown in the movie. The Mosasaur is said to be freakishly big, with some fans wondering how they were able clone the underwater creature with no mosquitoes going under water. The second dinosaur is the Velociraptor, the actual size of which is supposed to be less than three feet.
Fans of the "Jurassic World" have come to the defence of the movie by saying that the scientists who are complaining about the movie should consider that it is a science fiction movie and it does not claim to be scientifically accurate. They also point out that depicting dinosaurs with feathers to be scientifically accurate may not be commercially viable.
But scientists contend that the upcoming movie has a theme that is heavily dependent on science and has the potential to misinform the public. Some of the scientists see no harm in them pointing out the inaccuracies to the public.
Another concern expressed by the fans is the main plot of the movie that involves scientists in the movie coming up with a hybrid dinosaur. The fans see the plot as an attempt to write the Frankenstein story with a dinosaur.
Despite the criticism by the scientists, the trailer of "Jurassic World" has generated a lot of excitement among the fans who will be watching a movie from the franchise after over a decade. The last movie from the franchise was released in the year 2001. Should the upcoming movie be more scientifically accurate? Please leave your comments below.
