Screen Music Awards Announce Nominees: Nicole Kidman's Movie To Compete Against Naomi Watts' Film [SEE COMPLETE LIST]
The Screen Music Awards have announced the nominees of this year's awards. The awards celebrate composers in television and film.
Jack Moffitt, best known for his work as guitarist in "The Preatures" has become a first-time nominee for the prestigious award. He is nominated in the most coveted "Best Music for a Documentary" category for his work on "Blood Pulls a Gun."
Other nominees include Jeff Lang who has been chosen for his theme for "The Gods Of Wheat Street" and he is pitted against "Way Of The Eagle's" Jan Skubiszewski and his dad Cezary for "Best Music for a Television Series or Serial." Most interestingly, Nicole Kidman has been nominated against Naomi Watts in the Screen Music Awards nominations. The soundtrack for Kidman's film "The Railway Man" is nominated against the music of Watts movie "Adoration."
Screen composers Antony Partos and Cezary Skubiszewski are leading the way with six nominations each in the Screen Awards. Partos and Skubiszewski are each nominated for their soundtracks across the categories of television, mini-series, documentary, soundtrack and advertising. The Screen Music Awards will take place at the City Recital Hall in Sydney on Wednesday November 12. Veteran Australian actor Rob Carlton will host the prestigious event where the live orchestra will be directed by Emmy award-winning music director Ashley Irwin.
"It's both a pleasure and a privilege to be invited back to musically direct the Screen Music Awards. Having been away from Oz for 25 years, working on this show reminds me of the awesome talent that exists in Australia," Irwin said in a statement, according to Noise11.com.
