The human brain is perceived to be sending mixed signals sometimes. It is your brain that makes you note it's time to sleep. Yet it won't let you sleep. This is just one of the main points of "scumbag brain" memes.

Speaking of sleep, scientists have yet to figure out exactly how to figure out human dreams. There have been numerous studies on dreams. But there have been no conclusive data on the whys and the hows of these "sleep stories." Some people claim they don't even dream, to which scientists argue that they may just be unable to remember their dreams.

The first "scumbag brain" meme

The first scumbag brain meme had its tragic and dark roots on the subject of suicide, according to knowyourmeme.com.

User Jackist uploaded "F**king Scumbag Brain" on Reddit [r/suicidewatch] on March 24th last year. It had only 198 upvotes, presumably because there is nothing funny about it. Yet suicide is real across the world.

But not all scumbag brain memes tackle the heavy stuff of life.

Scumbag Brain: Relate or not?

We collected a few examples of "scumbag brain" memes from 9GAG.com. These are all shout outs of human frustration on how the brain is so un-cooperative sometimes, to say the least.

Psychologists are likely to have textbook explanations for each meme. But to regular readers, the memes are either relatable or not.

9GAG user "le alchemist" posted a meme take on a mother's brain. It goes: "My son is not answering his phone. He is probably dead." Too morbid? There are people who automatically prepare themselves for the worst possible scenario. You'd want to be on the opposite side, thinking positively and keeping calm.

User "allhexllxe" posted a meme that says: "Remember how you just checked your alarm? You should check it again." Now that's easily relatable.
