The Season for Giving: Man Gets Cited for Tossing $1K Bills in Mall
Somebody teach Serge Vorobyov that there are better ways to spend thousands of dollars to promote his own website.
Police officials from Bloomington, Minnesota have cited the 29-year-old for disorderly conduct after tossing $1,000 bills from an upper floor at the Mall of America.
Vorobyov cited different reasons for the act saying that it was “really a tough year” and also added that he’s going through a bitter divorce.
“I went through a horrible divorce, and she even took the cat and won’t tell me where it is. I thought I would just spread some holiday cheer… pay it forward,’” explained Vorobyov.
However, despite the tough year and heartbreak for Vorobyov, he took to heart the spirit of giving and was generous enough to share (what is left of) his wealth in the holiday season. He was also hoping that his ex-wife would go to the mall to witness his antics, but she never showed up.
From the fourth floor, he threw the bills and it floated down while a group was singing “Let It Snow” on the ground floor. A few minutes later a police officer apprehended him although Serge disagreed on the charge.
"I don't see how holiday cheer is disorderly," said Vorobyov from Apple Valley, Minn.
Vorobyov was cited for causing disruption but was released immediately. The Mall of America’s spokesman Sarah Schmidt said that it’s the first time that such incident happened in the mall.
While generosity (but most probably, depression) was part of the reasons for the act, Vorobyov also admitted that he stamped the bulls with his YouTube address to direct people to it.
Sure the dollar bill may have not won her ex-wife’s heart back… But it brought him a few hits in his YouTube account.
