Sebastian Vettel Tops 2014 Formula 1 Driver Salaries, Buys R3.4-Million Worth Ferrari For His Father

Sebastian Vettel topped the Business Book GP 2014's list of highest paid Formula One drivers with an estimated salary of $31.7 million.

Although the list wasn't reflective of the current standings, according to News.com.au, the top Formula One earner has recently bought his father a Ferrari California which has a retail equivalent of R3.3 million. According to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, the reigning quadruple world champion picked a personalised number plate with the classic red Ferrari.

In race events, the German is known to commute to and from the circuits in car from Red Bull's title sponsor but as a generous gift to his father Norbert Vettel, he got an iconic red Ferrari and a customised plate HP N1, wherein HP represents his birthplace Heppenheim and N1 signifies his first name, Norbert.

"In 1995, Michael Schumacher was seen roaming the streets of Monaco at the wheel of a F355. And we know how that turned out," read the Gazzetta report.

Meanwhile, the German's paycheck is belittling the salary of the Australian Rookie Daniel Ricciardo's earnings of $1.1 million, which is listed number 15. Although the Australian is smashing the 27-year-old on the track, Ricciardo earns 29 times less than his teammate.

In the past, before the Australian Mark Webber retired, Vettel snatched the number one Red Bull driver title from the veteran driver, which ironically, appears to happen again as Ricciardo looks to follow the same path if his impeccable performance continues.

Just recently, the 25-year-old was promoted from Red Bull's secondary team and he took out the first place at the Hungarian leg of the Formula One Grand Prix.

Sebastian Vettel is worn out from winning four consecutive titles which explains his loss of form, which led to Ricciardo out-performing him, Vettel's team chief Christian Homer, according to a report from Reuters.
