Secret Directive Orders Citizens Named 'Kim Jong-un' in North Korea Should Change Their Name Or Suffer
After speculations and accusations were raised stating North Korean officials were the ones behind the hacking of Sony Pictures and the leaking of several Sony films, South Korean news station KBS TV released some of the North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un's craziest rules. One that caught the attention of many is a directive asking people with the same name as the leader to change their names of face the consequences.
A secret government document has been leaked showing an administrative order by North Korean leader Kim Jong-un asking the authorities to make sure no one would have the same name as the leader's. All Kim Jong-un's in North Korea are required to change their names or be "trained" to do it if they would not do it willingly. All Kim Jong-uns in North Korea following the order had their official documents, identity cards, and even school diplomas and certificates altered to reflect other names. Parents who would give their new babies the same name would not be allowed to do so. The birth certificates of the babies would be rejected. The directive is said to have been established after Kim was made Supreme Leader, South Korean news station KBS TV reveals.
"All party organs and public security authorities should make a list of residents named Kim Jong-Un... and train them to voluntarily change their names," the said document reads. "Authorities should make sure that there is no one making unnecessary complaints or spreading gossip ... regarding this project," it details. While it is unclear if the document is real, North Korean defector Park Jin-hee, who got the document, said she is sure of its authenticity.
Meanwhile, Sony Pictures is set to be gearing up to officially name North Korea as the culprit behind the hacking attack that led to many sensitive files and projects being leaked last week, Re/code reports. Even though the details are still being finalized, Re/code said there were two sources who already confirmed the company's impending action to announce North Korea's main involvement in the cyber attack. Sony however, is yet to released an official statement on the timing of the news, saying the "very sophisticated cyber attack" is still being investigated.
