The domination of Tom Cruise's 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol' remains unstoppable even after the holidays have long been over.

The fourth movie in the 'MI' movie series was able to achieve about $134 million only after 17 days of its release.

The runner up in the box office list was 'Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows,' which has collected about $132.1 million in total. Coming in third was 'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked' with a $94.6 million in sales. 'War Horse' came in close race but did not do enough to even be near the spot of 'Mission Impossible.' Then there's the 'Dragon Tattoo' film earning just about $16.4 million, a box office result that devastated a lot of critics and other fans.

So what could be the secret of the movie, or does Tom Cruise's charm still last even in his not so young age?

The movie's success has certainly made the holidays of Cruise merry. With critics giving the movie a lot of positive reviews, it is no surprise it would truly collect in a lot of ticket sales. For some reliable critics, the movie has showed the best athletic side of the lead actor and revealed the maturity of the movie series.

It surely made Tom Cruise as the epitome of a true movie star. His travels to promote the movie all over the world, such as his visits to Europe and India, certainly added up to the overall success of the flick and why it ended up on top of everyone else at this year's list of box office hits.
