The previous fastest 100 million views record on the music video sharing Website Vevo was also created by Miley with "We Can't Stop" music video reaching 100 million in 37 days. But "Wrecking Ball" has set new standards for Vevo. The music video shows Miley as we have not seen her before. She cries, shows her emotional side and is seen swinging naked on the wrecking ball.
The singer was criticised for getting naked in the video but Miley has urged her fans to look beyond the obvious (a naked Miley) and try to get what she is trying to portray through her singing and emotions. She called the song a pop ballad and called the whole process of filming it very tough and emotional experience.
