In case you've missed the big Superhero news- Ben Affleck has been tipped to play Batman in the "Man of Steel" yet untitled sequel. Ben Affleck is the most admired actor of his time but the social media world has not taken very well to him playing the superhero.

There has been a hash tag going on Twitter which asks people to name actors who can play the role of Batman better than Affleck. In response, people came up with several choices ranging from Richard Armitage, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ryan Gosling and "Teen Wolf's" Tyler Hoechlin who are #betterbatmanthanbenaffleck.

You will be surprised to know that there is an online petition going on causes.org against Ben Affleck as Batman. It reads - "Warner Brothers: Remove Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne in the Superman/Batman movie." A close to eighty thousand people has already signed the petition and is created by one such fan from Ohio named John Roden.

Though Affleck does have star quality which Warner Bros are looking at in a mature Batman, many people still feel that there are better choices available for Bruce Wayne. Let's look at other choices.

Richard Armitage - He is 41 and has looks that could make girls swoon even when he dons that Batman suit. Best known for his role as the dwarf, Thorin Oakenshield, in "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey," this actor also had a brief but key role in "Captain America: The First Avenger as Heinz Kruger."

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - He is just 32 years of age yet was the top contender for Batman's role even in the popular poles. Gordon-Levitt has previous experience too as he played the character of John Blake in "The Dark Knight Rises" and emerged as a key ally of Batman.

Ryan Gosling - The actor is also 32 and has acclaim for "Drive" and "Place Beyond the Pines" in recent years. He would have been the choice of many girls but would not have fit the bill because of his age.

Tyler Hoechlin - Known for his roles in "Road to Perdition" and "MTV's Teen Wolf", Hoechlin should have been one of the possible actors considered for this role. He has already proved to his fans that he can pull off the mysterious image and could have been perfect to play Bruce Wayne.

Joe Manganiello - This guy is a fitness freak and has killer looks to play the role. Earlier know for his role as "Flash Thompson" in Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, the 36-year-old has starred as the werewolf Alcide Herveaux on HBO's "True Blood." There were reports in the media that Joe was the first choice to play Superman in Zack Snyder's movie but he did not have dates available.
