Selena Gomez Does Not Trust Anyone Because It Is Not Safe
Selena Gomez does not trust anyone. She does not share personal things or goals with anyone anymore because it’s not “safe.”
Speaking with Elvis Duran on Z100’s morning show, former Disney star turned singer actress Selena Gomez shared how guarded she became after years in the limelight and being constantly told what to do. According to the “Heart Want What It Wants” singer, she cannot share with anyone her dreams or goals anymore, because these would just be “ripped apart.”
She said she gets mixed signals from people around her. Everyone says one thing but do another. In particular, people would constantly tell her they want her to be better, healthy, and happy, but the moment she does something to chase her dreams or happiness, she gets criticised. "You can't talk about anything that you want to share with people because it's going to be ripped apart, and that's what makes me really sad," she detailed.
Good thing she has her music, she said. She uses her songs to reveal her thoughts instead, because she does not trust anyone. She does not think any of these would change anytime soon either. "It's something that I have to live with and I have to find the balance of who I want in my life and who isn't good for me," she claimed. For now, she stays home a lot just to avoid the paparazzi. She joked that she is not a cat lady yet but her best friend Taylor Swift is already convincing her to get one.
Despite her trust issues and anxiety, she said she still believes that her fans are wiser than what the media or gossip makers take them for. She shared that no matter what people say about her, her true self would be discernible to her fans. She laments though that the media and cyberbullies are forgetting that she is human too, and at 20, dealing with a lot of identity issues herself.
Despite almost acting like a recluse these days, this did not stop her from landing as the new face, or hair, of Pantene. According to Selena, she used Pantene all her life and the brand’s message to women -- that being strong is being beautiful, is something she firmly believes in and her fans should do too.
