Life goes on for pop star Selena Gomez and her family as they silently get through mom Mandy Teefey's loss.

It was almost a month ago when the Disney star expressed her excitement on being a big sis to her then-sibling whom they will eventually name "Scarlett". Unfortunately, Teefey suffered a miscarriage a few weeks ago.

Gomez was at a Cali Christmas concert when she learned the news, and was prompted to leave the show and cancel subsequent shows to be there for her mom's side.

The singer-actress finally broke her silence last Monday by greeting her fans and thanking them for their support on the ordeal.

"Belated Merry Christmas everybody.. I can't thank you enough for all of your thoughts and prayers.
We appreciate every one of you.. I love you all so much and we hope you and your family had a beautiful Christmas!
Love,
Me, Momma, Brian and our guardian angel Scarlett.
God bless"

This statement doesn't really reveal much on their situation, and isn't much of a contrast to Gomez' announcement last November on Twitter, although toned down.

"Momma and Brian are finally letting me share the news! My mommy's carrying my baby brother or sister :) I'm the happiest girl in the world!"

It is sure that with the finesse that she possesses, Gomez will be able to deal with this properly, especially now that she continues to soar career-wise.

She will be formally ending her "Disney star" label as she films the last episode to her wildly-successful "Wizards of Waverly Place", set to air on January 2012.

Saying goodbye wasn't easy, though.

"We went in and I was trying to avoid it as much as I could. I was trying not to think about it and just continue to do the scene and whenever they said that was a series wrap on my character and then listening to them wrap was really hard. I just started crying and I couldn't stop," Gomez tells Starpulse.

With an end comes a new beginning, as the star is cast in the comedy "Spring Breakers", where she portrays a co-ed who robs a restaurant to afford her spring break. Harmony Korine will be directing.

A wizard, a co-ed and a loving daughter? Not bad at all.
