Selena Gomez Sings Same Song Back for Bieber [VIDEO]
Almost everyone knows that revenge is a dish best served cold however for celebrities it is best served in a song. Selena Gomez who is famous for her split from Canadian crooner, Justin Bieber, recently took to the stage at the UNICEF concert at New York City. Of all the songs to cover, the 20-year old had sung Justin Timberlake's song, "Cry Me a River" which was the same song Justin had covered during his concert back in 2012. Is Selena trying to state something by singing the same song back?
Starting off fresh from the split with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez has been immersing herself in countless projects and red carpets. Selena's most recent gig was that of her private UNICEF concert which was held at New York City. Given Gomez have a lot of songs to sing for her fans, the former Disney princess chose to cover a song which was sung by Bieber back in November 2012 following the famed "Jelena" split.
Before taking to the stage and singing Timberlake's hit, "Cry Me a River", Selena addressed the crowd as to why she had chosen such a song.
"I've been through a lot the past few months. It's been weird and sad and cool ... this song definitely speaks to me," said Selena.
A source at the event even confirmed that throughout the song, Selena was "angry." Who wouldn't be mad with all the drama going on? For one, Selena still has not directly spoken up on the split and so has Bieber. Yet, Selena's mom, Mandy sure has made her decision on the split.
Mandy wants Selena to have nothing to do with Bieber. Following the marijuana scandal that plagued Bieber for the past weeks, Mandy thinks it's best that Selena never gets back together with Bieber given he's a "bad influence" on the 20-year old.
Apart from singing "Cry Me a River", Selena also sang Taylor Swift's hit song, "I Knew You Were Trouble." Of course, the performance didn't start without another comment from Gomez.
"If you've ever felt pain, you know this one," said Gomez before singing. Right after, Selena had let out a sly laugh.
