Selena Gomez is one of Hollywood's rising stars and she's got Disney channel to thank. While some may think that Gomez had her luck great at the beginning of her career, the former Disney star had her share of awkward auditions. Here's all there is to know about Gomez and her Disney life.

From movies to music and fashion, Gomez has made her mark and a name for herself in the industry. In fact, Selena's fourth studio album, "Come & Get It" has managed to top the Billboard charts while her collaboration with Adidas NEO is getting quite the good sales mark. As for films, Gomez has a lot lined up the latest of which include "Getaway" opposite Ethan Hawke.

Gomez has Disney to thank for her acting prowess. However, while a few "Selenators" may think Gomez had it easy for the children oriented channel, for Gomez the process was extremely difficult and not to mention awkward.

"I was actually really shy as a child. My first audition did not go well. I was very awkward. It was in front of a bunch of suits at Disney and I definitely felt I blew it. It took me a long time to let go," stated Gomez in her interview with i-D magazine, September issue.

Obviously, things turned out well for Gomez after her first audition. Gomez went on to star in the Disney original series, "Wizards of Waverly Place" that had managed to snag a few awards. The Disney world may be a thing of the past for Gomez but if there is one Disney icon she looks up to even today, it would be none other than Britney Spears.

"The Baby One More Time... concert was amazing. I sat all the way up in the nosebleeds and I could barely see her, but I remember it being the best day of my life," stated Gomez.
