The phablet war is expected to further intensify in September amid reports that Taiwanese tech firm HTC will launch the One Max on the last month of the third quarter of 2013. The rumour came from Mobile Geeks, a German mobile site.

The new device, said to rival the Samsung Galaxy Note, will feature a 5.9-inch of full HD display, a 2.3GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB of RAM and up to 64GB of storage. But it is not yet clear if the upcoming phablet would also have a stylus like the Samsung Galaxy Note.

It will also have an Ultrapixel rear camera similar to the one used in the HTC One and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing shooter, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity and a 3,300mAh battery.

Mobile Geeks said the phablet would have a dual SIM and be LTE compatible and will come with a Sense 5.0 UI layer on top of its Android OS.

However, the rumour contradicts previous report that HTC, which has suffered from sales slump and executive exodus, would not release any new phones in 2013 although the HTC One Mini - also speculated for release in September together with the One Max - was seen in fresh photo leaks.

The One Mini is believed to have a 1.4GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor with Adreno 405 graph and 1GB RAM, plys a 4.3-inch 720p screen with a resolution of 720x1280 pixels. The One Mini would run on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and have a 1.6-megapixel front camera.
