Serbian Novak Djokovic wants gold in Rio 2016 Olympics
Novak Djokovic wants to win the gold medal in tennis for Serbia in Rio 2016. Djokovic of Serbia is currently the world’s top player, but there is one thing missing in his tennis resume, an Olympic gold medal in the sport as he failed in both bids in the past two Summer Games. In 2016 in Rio, Brazil, Djokovic said that he wants another shot at a tennis gold medal in the Olympics.
"Everybody is looking forward to being part of the Olympic Games. I'm not an exception. I really would love to be part of the Olympic Serbian team," Djokovic said to reporters while in China, via thenational.ae. "That's definitely one of the highlights and one of the priorities of the next season, is to try to get a medal for my country. I'm going to do everything I can possibly to achieve that."
Djokovic has been one of most successful players in the ATP Tour in recent years winning all of the Grand Slam titles except the French Open, where he made to the finals three times (2012, 2014 and 2015). He has a total of 10 majors titles, five at the Australian Open (2008, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2015), three at the Wimbledon Championships ((2011, 2014 and 2015) and two at the US Open (2011 and 2015).
The Serbian has not been as successful in the Olympics, settling for a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and missing out on a podium finish at the 2012 London Olympics. He won against James Blake, 6-3 7-6 (4) in China for third place and lost to Juan Martín del Potro, 5-7 4-6 in London for fourth place.
