Serena Williams, Drake 'just friends' despite leaked make-out photos

Photos of Serena Williams and Drake getting very cosy with each other at a public restaurant have sparked speculations that they are dating. However, sources close to the tennis sensation insist Serena and Drake’s relationship is purely platonic.

A source told Page Six that Serena and Drake are not dating and that they are “just friends.” The pair has reportedly remained friends even after a brief relationship.

“Serena briefly dated Drake around 2011 and even though it didn’t end that well, they have remained friends since. He has been at her side at a lot of tournaments recently, including Wimbledon in July, where he sat in her box next to her sister Venus,” the source said.

As for Williams' relationship status, the unnamed source claims that the tennis star is still very much single since she has her focus set not on romantic relationships but on winning the U.S. Open. It’s said Williams is working hard to focus on tennis alone and doesn’t want to be distracted by Drake from winning the tennis match in Flushing Meadows on Aug. 31.

The 33-year-old is reportedly aiming to make history as she enters next week’s tournament after winning her fifth tennis title this year. Serena reportedly has high hopes of becoming the first woman since 1988 to complete a calendar-year grand slam.

Meanwhile, a source close to Drake revealed that he and Williams “have been off and on for a while.” It’s believed the 28-year old Canadian rapper and Williams like each other but are not aiming for something serious at the moment, as they are both very busy with their respective careers.

TMZ recently released photos of the pair looking very comfortable with each other inside a private room at a restaurant in Cincinnati hours after Williams won the Women’s Tennis Association, or WTA, tournament. Drake and Williams were photographed making out at the back of the fancy Sotto restaurant. In one photo Williams looked like she’s sitting on Drake’s lap while another shot shows Drake’s head on her neck. Diners claimed they were joined by six other people and had a round of tequila shots.
