Serena Williams Mingles With Celebrities At Theo Jansen’s Audemars Piguet Presentation In Miami
Serena Williams is one of the few who get to hobnob with the biggest celebrities in Hollywood. Recently, Williams mingled with some of Hollywood's A-list celebrities at an art event in Miami.
According to the Daily Mail, Williams attended the Audemars Piguet Presentation of Theo Jansen's Larger Than Life Strandbeests. The art event was held at Art Basel in Miami on Dec. 6.
Williams flaunted her curvy figure and well-toned legs in a body-hugging above-the-knee white dress with embellished floral details. She had a white coat over her dress and sported a pair of classic black pumps. Serena let her long black curls flowing freely and opted for a light makeup with nude lipstick.
Other celebrities who were present at the event include Indian actress and model Freida Pinto, American actor Justin Theroux, and "Entourage's" Adrian Grenier. Audemars Piguet's Olivier Audemars and Chief Executive Officer Francois-Henry Bennahmias, and Art Basel director Marc Spiegler were also in attendance at the event.
The event was a week-long programme held in honour of artists Theo Jansen and Lena Herzog, according to the press release posted on Audemars Piguet's official Web site. Audemars Piguet celebrated Jansen's presentation in a joint venture with Peabody Essex Museum at Art Basel in Miami. The presentation also complemented Audemars Piguet's watch exhibition, made by renowned French designer Matthieu Lehanneur, in the Collectors Lounge of Art Basel in Miami Beach.
"An accompanying installation features Jansen's newest Standbeests, including the 42-foot-long Animaris Suspendise, as well as a reproduction of Theo Jansen's workshop on the beach," said in the statement. "And an exhibition of Lena Herzog's photographs of the Strandbeests."
Jansen's quest for innovation began 24 years ago on the Dutch seacoast. His Standbeests (beach animals) are sculptures made from Polyvinyl Chloride, or PVC pipes, bottles, recycled plastic tubes, and bicycle pumps. He creates kinetic sculptures that are able to walk on the wind.
The presentation at Art Basel in Miami is a lead up to Jansen's Strandbeests first major exhibition tour in the U.S., which will start in September 2015. Exhibitions of Jansen's artwork will also be featured in San Francisco and Chicago.
