The X-Factor will soon air on Australian television, following Seven Network's contract to use the popular British talent format.

Radio bad boy Kyle Sandilands, Ausssie pop stars Natalie Imbruglia and Guy Sebastian, and former Boyzone member Ronan Keating are said to be part of the all-star judging panel that was put together by Seven.

After several months of negotiation between Seven, production company Fremantle, and Simon Cowell's company Syco, the deal finally pushed through.

According to sources, the contract is worth about $20 million.

Seven will commence the renewed X-Factor later this year as a part of the major programming push of the network versus Nine's come back and Ten's increasing popularity through its streamroller MasterChef.

AFL broadcasts in southern states served as on-air promotions for Seven as the network called for contestants.

Sandilands is currently a judge on Australia's Got Talent, another Seven television program. Contracts with Imbruglia, Sebastian and Keating were closed today.

David Leckie, chief executive officer of Seven, described the format as a "bloody great show," commenting that the line-up of judges was incredible.

According to Fremantle Media's chief executive officer Ian Hogg, The X-Factor was a "phenomenally successful format."

"Our creative team are determined to make this show something very special," he said.

A similar version of the format, hosted by Daniel MacPherson, was aired in 2005. However, there was no second series for the show.
