‘Sex and the City’ Star Joins 'Hannibal'; 'Beauty and the Beast' New Cast/Promo [VIDEO]
NBC's thriller "Hannibal" has signed "Sex and the City" actor Cynthia Nixon for a recurring role in Season 2, which premieres sometime in 2014.
TVLine reports that Nixon, 47, will play the role of "an employee at the Office of the Inspector General, FBI Oversight who is investigating the events that occurred in "Hannibal" Season 1 and also the culpability of Jack Crawford's (Laurence Fishburne)."
In "Hannibal" Season 1 finale, FBI special investigator, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy), was framed for murders that cannibalistic serial killer committed and he ended-up in orange jumpsuit and at the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), forensic psychiatrist, cannibalistic serial killer and the man behind the murders, remained a free man. Bryan Fuller, the show-runner, has contacted David Bowie to play the role of Lecter's uncle, Count Robert Lecter, according to The Huffington Post.
When the series returns, Graham has hit "rock-bottom" and his trial will be in the third episode of Hannibal Season 2, according to Fuller at Comic-Con, as quoted by E! Online. "We've seen him hit rock bottom and now he's going to come up swinging." One of the major highlights of "Hannibal" Season 1 has been the 'bromance' between Graham and Lecter, but the season 1 finale ended the possibility of seeing more of it.
"It's about Will and Hannibal finding a new dynamic between them and those characters exploring the loss of the friendship. If the first season was the bromance, the second season is the nasty breakup," Fuller had said.
The CW's "Beauty and the Beast" is all set to return on October 07, 2013 with its second season. The first promo is out for the premiere episode, "Burn." According to TVLine: Annie Ilonzeh and Blair Redford have joined the cast of "Beauty and the Beast." She has a recurring role of a reporter and a friend of detective Catherine Chandler's (Kristin Kreuk). Blair joins the cast as guest-star. According to TVLine, he will appear in an episode as an "Army buddy of Vincent's who becomes "a terrifying opponent and a dangerous threat" to the beast."
