"Shades of Blue" soap recap
In its pilot episode, the show offered an overview of how Harlee and Wozniak work together with a team at the 64th Precinct in New York. In the course of their police duties, Wozniak and his team keep drugs off the streets by forging a deal with the criminals. In exchange of letting them operate somewhere else, the gangs give Wozniak extortion money, which he generously shares with his crew. Harlee benefits from these “extra-curricular” activities, but still struggles financially especially in terms of her daughter’s tuition in a university.
The first episode also showed how the FBI’s anti-corruption unit, through Agent Stahl pressured Harlee to be a mole for the FBI. Harlee has to provide relevant information about Wozniak and his team’s shady dealings, and in return, she would be given full immunity.
A close encounter ensued when Stahl bugged Harlee using a wire and a camera on her necklace before she went to Wozniak’s barbeque party. Wozniak confided to her that there’s a mole in their team. Fearing for her life, Harlee prepared to pull her gun out, but stopped when Wozniak asked for her help to kill the informer. Wozniak said Harlee is the only person he can trust.
