Shah Rukh Khan Breaks his Silence, Releases Statement on his New Born Baby AbRam
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan finally broke his silence on Tuesday and put to rest rumours and speculations surrounding the latest addition to his family, baby boy AbRam. The actor, 42, also refuted allegations that a pre-natal sex determination test was done to find the sex of the baby.
The National Inspection and Monitoring Committee had filed a legal complaint against Shah Rukh Khan and his wife for allegedly trying to determine the sex of the baby. "Just to put the record straight there was no sex determination for our child," the actor said in a statement.
There was much media speculation concerning the birth of Shah Rukh Khan's third child, born prematurely via surrogate. The actor, however, had remained silent on the issue and had said that "when the sad part of it gets over of course I will share everything with you."
"As a family our silence on this subject has been because of the personal nature of emotional strife that we have been going through due to his health," the actor said in the statement. "Amidst all the noise that has been going around, the sweetest is the one made by our new-born baby, AbRam."
The actor said that the baby was born prematurely by several months but has finally come home. "Gauri and our whole family have been dealing with his health issues for a long time now."
According to a report published by Mail Online India, Mumbai's municipal body, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), will not probe further allegations that the actor had tried to find the sex of the baby through pre-natal sex determination test. Pre-conception and pre-natal diagnostic test (PCPNDT) is illegal in India.
"The baby was born much before the speculations of 'sex determination' and other 'issues' pertaining to the same were being raised in the media by some organisations," the actor said.
BMC will send a report to Maharashtra government, which had ordered a probe into the matter after the media broke the news in June that Shah Rukh Khan was going to be a father of a baby boy.
According to AbRam's birth report, the boy was born at Masrani Hospital for Women in Andheri on May 27. The father's name is registered as Shahrukh Meer Taj Mohammed Khan and mother's Gauri Shahrukh Khan. It says Gauri was married at the age of 21 and her age at the time of the third baby is 43. The baby was born at 34 weeks through a caesarean and weighed 1.5 kg at birth.
Shah Rukh Khan and his wife already are parents of two children, Aryan and Suhana. The actor is currently busy promoting his upcoming movie Chennai Express. Directed by Rohit Shetty, the movie is slated for a release this Eid. The movie also stars Deepika Padukone.
