Shailene Woodley kicked ass in her "Divergent" movie as Tris and bravely took on a role of a teenager with a grave disease in "The Fault in Our Stars," but her tough roles do not end with these. On her new movie, "White Bird in a Blizzard," she also filmed a lot of topless scenes that she's not shy and awkward to do and talk about.

In this new movie, Shailene plays a teenage character who had to deal with again, a big thing that ordinary teenagers don't have to deal with: coming to grips with her mother's disappearance. To make things more complicated, she also had to resolve and come into terms with her own emerging sexuality. In this movie, she filmed a sexy scene with a much older detective, played by Thomas Jane.

While doing the scenes, it was not awkward for her, she is aware that many would consider those scenes distasteful. She told NY Daily News that United States made it so. She had no qualms about her body, but she said she is aware that in the United States or Hollywood for the matter, sexy scenes are either "shameful" or "exploitative." Liberal as the country may be, children and teens are not allowed to explore their own sexuality or get to know their bodies better than countries in Europe.

"Maybe I'm more European at heart than American, but sexuality in America is considered so taboo and it's so not talked about and yet it's so relevant in our lives," Shailene shared. "I don't understand it: Little kids know more about guns than they do about their own bodies."

She contrasted doing this sexy scene with the one nude appearance she made in Paris on the French equivalent of the "Tonight Show." She shared that the reactions of the Europeans were markedly different from what she surmised Americans would act.

"They showed a clip where my character is in the bathroom and I take my top off," she detailed. "It's on public television and that's the clip they showed. When they showed it I was expecting the audience to react, but they were like, 'Whatever. It's just boobs.'"

Shailene's opinions on doing sexy scenes really showed how comfortable she's with her her body. Back in May, she even told Vulture that she would have no qualms doing a real movie where she's naked because that's how she is when having sex. In fact, she said, "Let's make a real movie! Let's bring truth to the scene!"
