Shakira is yet to receive another round of awards to add to her extensive list of recognition from different award giving bodies this week.

Shakira is set to receive the 'Person of the Year' award from the 12th Annual Latin Grammy Awards to be held at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas on Thursday. She is recognized for her many contributions to the Latin music industry throughout her career. She has shown that she can make Latin music break through the American music scene.

The two-time Grammy and seven-time Latin Grammy winner is also nominated for three awards for songs and performances from her Spanish album, 'Sale el Sol'. She is nominated for Album of the Year, Best Pop Vocal album and Best Short Form Music Video for her song 'Loca'.

The Latin Grammy organizers have put together a tribute to Shakira with a group of artists who will be performing some of the most popular songs that she sang and made it to the charts.

The famous Colombian singer was given the 2,454th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Tuesday for her contributions to music, especially with her efforts in making Latin music a big part of mainstream music charts. The ceremony for unveiling her star at the Walk of Fame gathered many of her fans and supporters in the Los Angeles area to the W Hollywood Hotel. Shakira's parents William and Nidia Mebarak participated in the ceremonies and stood there proud of their award winning daughter.

Shakira is just one of the many Latin music artists who have been given their own star in Hollywood. Other notable artists are Luis Miguel and Gloria Estefan.

Shakira is not only known for her hits such as 'Hips Don't Lie' and the FIFA World Cup 2010 theme song 'Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)'. The top selling and multi-awarded singer is also a prominent figure in Latin America's early childhood education advocacy scene.
