The music video of the 2010 FIFA World Cup official song of the “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” by Shakira featuring South African band Freshlyground was declared the eighth most viewed YouTube video of all time on the video-sharing site’s 10th anniversary on Valentine’s Day.

Mixing a Soca-inspired beat with an African Colombian rhythm, “Waka Waka (This Time for Africa)” features lyrics that inspire people to reach their goals like a soldier on a battlefield. It was produced and written by Shakira and John Hill.

Posted on YouTube on June 4, 2010, the 2010 FIFA World Cup official song music video has been viewed more than 808 million times with more than 1.3 million likes and more than 96,000 thumbs down.

Meanwhile, the 2022 FIFA World Cup will reportedly take place in Qatar in November and December 2022 and the FIFA Executive Committee will have a meeting in Zurich, Switzerland in March to finalize the decision, Sports Illustrated has learned.
