Ronan Keating had done his Boyzone co-members disservice when he split from the group to go solo. Shane Lynch revealed that he hated their lead singer so much for leaving them in the dust that he has had “angry and violent thoughts” about him.

The Irish boyband broke through the music scene in the early ‘90s, subsequently garnering worldwide success for the members, which also include Mikey Graham, Keith Duffy, and the late Stephen Gately.

Keating emerged as the lead singer of the group, with critics noting that the other members were neglected to be given substantial singing parts.

Though the formula seemed imbalance, it had worked. The boys became one of the most successful bands in their home country of Ireland and the UK, as well as in Asia.

But by 1999, Keating decided to go solo, which meant it’s the end of Boyzone. The group reunited in 2008, embarking on a successful tour in the UK. However in 2009, Gately died suddenly from pulmonary edema, which crippled the surviving boys temporarily.

The now four members had recently recorded their TV special on the British network ITV to mark their 20 years in the industry.

Keating’s “The X Factor” co-mentor Dannii Minogue hosted the show, saying that the atmosphere in the studio changed suddenly when the boys started revealing their true feelings.

Keating had shocked the audience when he claimed that he had worked the hardest during the group’s heyday, but it was probably Lynch’s revelation that had surprised them the most.

“I hated Ronan Keating. I hated him,” he was quoted by The Sun as saying.

“I was in an angry place towards the end of the 90s so it was the nail in the coffin when Ro didn’t want to get back together with us boys.”

Lynch admitted as well that he had “angry and violent thoughts” when he stormed to Keating’ solo show at the Royal Albert Hall in 2000. But those thoughts quickly dissolved by the time he saw his former best friend.

“When I saw that man’s face, any anger, any hatred, was gone. I wanted to hug the boy and say, ‘Dude, please come back to us.’”

Keating, Lynch, Duffy, and Graham recently performed their new song “Love Will Save the Day” on “The X Factor Australia.” Their new studio album “BZ20” will be released on November 25.
