When you're at the beach, you think of the warm water and all of the things you can do. But when it's the annual "Shark Week" on Discovery Channel, almost everyone thinks of a shark attack before diving into the ocean.

In 2012, Discovery Channel's "Shark Week" brought in 21.4 million during its premier episodes. Due to a lot of people showing an interest in the show, it has been expanded to have 11 episodes and a late-night talk show that will air each evening during "Shark Week."

"Shark After Dark" is hosted by comedian Josh Wolf. This late-night talk show will satisfy any person who can't get enough sharks. The talk show will feature footage from "Shark Week" and will invite guests such as celebrities, shark experts and shark attack survivors. It will also give an opportunity for the audience to tweet questions about sharks.
In the social meia front in 2012, there were over 1.6 million Tweets about "Shark Week." It also accounted for 35% of all cable social activity from August 12-16, according to Trendrr.

This year, many people will surely tweet about the loss of Snuffy the Seal. Snuffy is the star of the 2013 "Shark Week" Advertisment where he was supposed to be released back into the wild. It was a cute moment for everyone watching until a shark suddenly leaps and snatches Snuffy seconds before he was released back into the sea. This commercial quickly went viral and did a lot in promoting "Shark Week."

Shark Week officially started last Sunday, August 4, and programming continues today, August 5, starting with "Sharkzilla: Sharktweeto" (Discovery at 8 p.m.), which looks at the prehistoric mega-shark. Then starting with "Sharkzilla: Sharktweeto" (Discovery at 8 p.m.)

So, get your iPads and television sets ready and join in on what has become one of the highlights of the summer. Keep in mind that getting attacked by a shark is just one in 3.7 million. But we all know that it can happen any moment, just ask poor little Snuffy.
