Sharon Osbourne Reveals Violent Fight With Ozzy Osbourne
Sharon Osbourne almost ended her marriage to Ozzy Osbourne with a violent altercation. The talent show judge detailed her turbulent encounter with her Black Sabbath star husband when she demanded a divorce from him earlier in 2013.
The Osbournes, who have been married since July 1992, have always been plagued with troubles that are commonly attached to relationships, but they have persevered. However, Sharon had had enough of her husband after she discovered the extent of his drug abuse.
UK's The Sun has printed extracts from her new book "Unbreakable," in which she described the events that almost led to their divorce. She wrote that she found out that Ozzy was back to his old ways when she searched the content of his mobile phone on their 30th wedding anniversary.
"Normally I'd never do something like that but I was a desperate woman. It didn't take long and boy did I find a load of ugly s***. There were texts going back months, asking people for drugs and saying, 'Don't tell the old girl.'"
The 60-year-old "The Talk" host continued, "I didn't feel anger, just an overwhelming sense of weariness. Here was my husband, sixty-bloody-four and still behaving like a teenage rock star.
"Ozzy had been clean seven years. It had taken so long to get there So much heartache and pain. The saddest thing was telling the kids and our friends. But to keep it secret would have been worse."
She then confronted the "Godfather of Heavy Metal," and he promised to seek professional help and attend counselling. But instead of doing just that, he fled to the UK and continued to drink.
Not one to be outdone, Sharon retailed by selling Ozzy's luxury cars within 24 hours.
"All gone," she wrote, referring to his prized vehicle collection.
"There was no way I was going to risk him getting in one of them while he was drunk and hurting someone," Sharon explained. "Ozzy says now that it proved to be the most expensive drink he's ever had."
They reunited weeks later in the U.S., but the meeting wasn't as joyous one.
She wrote, "He came to my hotel room in Beverly Hills... but as soon as he spoke he was cocky and arrogant. There didn't seem one shred of remorse. Something snapped. I thought, 'I can't carry his s*** anymore.' I said, 'I want a divorce. I want half of everything, that's my right. I also want 100,000 every month.'
'No f****** way. Over my dead body,' he said. I was drinking a cappuccino and the whole lot went on his head - the coffee, the cup, and the bloody saucer. Then I grabbed him and pulled at his precious hair with one hand while trying to yank off his jewellery with the other. He went for me, trying to grab me in a headlock."
A friend eventually broke their violent fight, and the troubled rock star eventually decided to make good on his promise to get clean.
In April, Ozzy apologised publicly to Sharon and their family with a note he wrote on Facebook, in which he admitted his alcohol and drug relapse.
"For the last year and a half I have been drinking and taking drugs. I was in a very dark place and was an a**hole to the people I love most, my family. However, I am happy to say that I am now 44 days sober," Ozzy wrote.
He also cleared the circulating rumours then that he and Sharon were divorcing, adding, "I'm just trying to be a better person."
The couple met in public in May so none of them would lose their tempers again.
"He was well into two months of sobriety. It seemed like forever since I'd looked into my husband's eyes, but now I was looking into sober eyes. The man I loved was present. I could tell he was relieved to be sitting next to me. I put my hand on his, took him in my arms and we cried," Sharon wrote.
Her book will be released in October.
