The nearly two-year-long, excruciating wait is finally over for the 'modern-day' Sherlock's fans. The much loved and famous detective of London, Sherlock Holmes, is back from the dead and is lurking around the Baker Street. Out on the Web, the 26 second teaser provides fleeting glimpses of the good men and women in Sherlock's life and Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch), as well. The surprise, Dr John Watson (Martin Freeman) is sporting a moustache.

The teaser of the BBC One Sherlock, the modern day adaption of Arthur Conan Doyle's mystery stories, alludes to the reunion of Mrs Hudson (Una Stubbs), Inspector G. Lestrade (Rupert Graves), Molly Hooper (Louise Brealey), Sherlock's brother Mycroft Holmes (Mark Gatiss) and Watson with Sherlock.

The final episode of Season 2, 'The Reichenbach Fall', ended on a cliffhanger. The audience saw Sherlock falling to his death from the roof of St Bartholomew's Hospital and then in the closing scene, the detective could be seen standing in the shadows, watching solemnly Watson walking away from his grave. The first episode of Season 3 will reveal how Sherlock faked his death and creators of the show have assured that there were no voodoo tricks involved.

"There are only a few ways you can fall off a roof and survive. It's not black magic. It's a rational explanation. ... and, when you see the answer you're going to see that yes, it had to be plotted out," Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat, the show's co-creators, said at Comic-Con.

The new season will follow the motif 'Rat', 'Wedding', 'Bow'. The first episode 'The Empty Hearse' is loosely based on Doyle's 'The Adventure of the Empty House'. Talking about the first episode, the co-creators Gattis and Moffat said that it has got "essentially" a different plot and it will significantly deal with the impact of Sherlock's return from six feet under, especially on Watson.

Gatiss has hinted that it will take a while for Watson to forgive Sherlock for faking his death, unlike in the original Doyle's short-story. He said at Comic-Con that in the original story, Watson forgives Sherlock very quickly. "That's not going to happen in the show! We wanted to explore how it really affected all of his friends and family."

Sherlock's producer Sue Vertue recently announced the new antagonist for Sherlock 3. She had tweeted: "Sherlock's new nemesis - introducing Lars Mikkelsen as Charles Augustus Magnussen."

Sherlock 3 is slated to return on BBC One in October.
