"Sherlock" Season 3 will premiere first in the UK before it airs in the U.S. since BBC has the "first window" rights for "Sherlock." However, the U.S. premiere date is out, while BBC still has to announce the premiere date of "Sherlock" Season for its UK audience.

Steven Moffat, co-creator of "Sherlock," had said to Radio Times that he was not also sure when BBC intends to air the first episode of the new season. Moffat added: "I would place good money on it being at the very end or the very beginning of the year."

The media is abuzz with speculation that "Sherlock" 3 might premiere on January 01, 2014 in the UK. The second season of "Sherlock" had premiered on January 01, 2012. According to reports, BBC had announced the premiere date on the second week of December, 2011.

In the U.S., "Sherlock" airs on PBS Masterpiece and is scheduled to return on January 19, 2013. According to Rebecca Eaton, executive producer of Masterpiece, the episodes of the upcoming season are like "small movies." She told Entertainment Weekly that the three new episodes are "fantastic" and "jaw dropping."

Rebecca claims that "Sherlock" Season 3 is the "best season yet of Sherlock." Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are "so in their Sherlock-Watson groove. They are so comfortable with that relationship it's like being in the room with them," she said.

"We promise our fans that Season 3 is worth waiting for," Sue Vertue, producer of "Sherlock," has said in a statement released for the U.S. audience.

The hugely popular "Sherlock" is based on the short stories of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's "Sherlock Holmes." The first episode of the "Sherlock" Season 3 is "Empty Hearse," which will reveal how Sherlock faked his own death. The reunion between Sherlock and Watson in the first episode is not going to be a friendly one.
