The wait is nearly over! We know that Sherlock is alive and coming back for a new series just as soon. A lot of details about "Sherlock" season 3 have been revealed as Benedict Cumberbatch is set to make a return in an adventure packed new season.

Sherlock's Exclusive Screening at London's BFI

The smash hit BBC One show "Sherlock" is set to return with its season 3's first episode titled "The Empty Hearse" in a special screening event at London's British Film Institute on December 15, 2013 at 1 PM.

The event where the much awaited Sherlock season 3, episode 1 will be screened will be followed by Question & Answer round with the cast and crew of the TV show.

Though, the list of the members attending the exclusive screening is not yet revealed, it is also not known whether Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) himself will be attending the event or not.

The preview screening tickets are on sale from Nov. 6, but the general sale starts from Nov. 12. Fans can also watch the special Sherlock Q&A round with cast and members of the show on BFI's video player.

'Sherlock' Season 3 on TV

Season 3 of "Sherlock" will then return in January on BBC One. According to "Entertainment Weekly", the show will return to PBS Masterpiece on Jan. 19 at 10 p.m in US.

Along with the details of the return of "Sherlock" season 3, BBC One has also released its first official photo taken from the upcoming season. BBC One took to Facebook and Twitter to give the first glimpse of the new season to the show's fans. The official photo shows that Sherlock is looking through the window at his friend Watson, (Martin Freeman) who is sitting by the window pensively.

The official photo has a quote along with it by the creator of the show Steven Moffat: "It's been a long time since Sherlock Holmes jumped off that roof - it's time to reveal the truth about what happened between him and the pavement."

Sherlock season 3, episode 1 "The Empty Hearse" is written by Mark Gatiss and directed by Jeremy Lovering. This much awaited episode will mark the return of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman as Sherlock and Watson in another power packed instalment. So, hang on for a while before you enter the world of mysteries and investigation with "Sherlock" season 3.
