"The Empty Hearse" is the episode that will reveal how Sherlock beat death and survived the fall from the roof of St. Bartholomew's Hospital. The threat of a terrorist attack on London will bring back Sheldon to the Baker's street, reuniting him with his friend Dr Watson. The creative minds behind this modern day BBC's "Sherlock" claim that all the clues were on the screen in the final episode of Season 2, "The Reichenbach Fall."

Sherlock would not have cheated death - all alone. He must have had some help. Seeing Watson's devastated state and his look at Sherlock's grave, it is highly unlikely that he knows that Sherlock is alive.

Sherlock's brother, Mycroft, claims to hold an insignificant position in the British Government. Sherlock, however, believes that his brother is actually the British Government, occasionally. Mycroft also freelances for CIA and Secret Service if one believes Sherlock. The two seasons of "Sherlock" have established Mycroft as someone important in the British Government, with connections in high places.

In the closing scenes of "The Reichenbach Fall," one could see Mycroft calmly reading The Sun. The headline on the front page of the tabloid is "Suicide of Fake Genuis." Mycroft is the only one who could have helped Sherlock fake his death and used his connections to keep his brother hidden from his nemesis and friends, as well.

BBC One has announced that there will be a mini-episode called "Many Happy Returns" which is likely a prequel to the three episodes. This special episode will air on Christmas Day, December 25, 2013. According to official synopsis of "Many Happy Returns," Sherlock has been gone for 2 years but someone isn't quite convinced that he's dead..."

Molly Hooper is the person that Sherlock seeks out to access dead bodies and lab reports. She has a crush on him and works at the morgue of St. Bartholomew's Hospital. The missing Sherlock body is likely to make her suspicious about Sherlock's death. In an interview published last year, Louise Brealey, who plays Molly, had indicated that her character will return in Season 3.

"Sherlock" Season 3 is scheduled to premiere on January 01, 2014 in UK, while it is due to air in the U.S. on January 19, 2014. The premiere episode will pick-up two years after Sherlock jumped to his fake death.
