The most loved fictitious detective Sherlock Holmes returns on January 01, 2014 on BBC, bringing with him new mysteries to solve, a new villain to check-mate, drama and quirkiness, and human emotions.

The premiere episode of "Sherlock" Season 3 is "The Empty Hearse." According to BBC One Programme Guide, the episode picks-up two years after Sherlock (Benedict Cumberbatch) jumped down from the roof of St Bart's hospital. Sherlock returns to find that London is no longer the same and his friend Dr Watson (Martin Freeman) has moved on with his life. There is no Baker's Street as he knew it. To his shock, Sherlock realises that he needs to reacquaint himself with London. The city is not giving him the vibe of familiarity.

Watson has moved on in his life, finally accepting that Sherlock is dead. He is in a serious relationship. Sherlock re-appearing in his life is bound to shake-up his post-Sherlock life. Radio Times reports that the premiere episode will show that Dr Watson is engaged to Mary Morstan. The report describes her as "sensible, quick-witted and not at all taken in by Sherlock's posturing."

In an interview with GMA News, Martin Freeman said that his character has moved on from what he thinks is Sherlock's death two years ago. "He's moved on and he's fallen in love. And that is obviously the biggest change in his life. Sherlock is no longer around, he hasn't got his friend anymore. He hasn't got those adventures or that life, so he's back practicing medicine, and with a very serious girlfriend."

"That's where we pick him up and not at Baker Street, not living that life anymore. And he's content with where he is," added Freeman.

In addition to dealing with Watson's love life and his lady love, Sherlock has to stop the imminent threat of a terrorist attack on London's underground tube system. Mark Gatiss has written "The Empty Hearse." Jeremy Lovering has directed the premiere episode of "Sherlock" Season 3.
