Fans have long waited for the day when the mystery about how the genius detective Sherlock Holmes survived Reichenbach Fall will unfurl. In two more days, Benedict Cumberbatch will make a return in Sherlock Season 3 and unveil the much anticipated answer to the question "how Sherlock faked his own death?" Meanwhile, the internet and the microblogging sites like Twitter are exploding with several theories by fans.

Sherlock Season 3 and Reichenbach Fall: Theories by Fans Explode the Internet and Twitter

Sherlock Holmes played by Benedict Cumberbatch took a plunge from St. Bart's hospital in Sherlock Season 2 Episode 3 The Reichenbach Fall on Jan. 15, 2012 on BBC. Ever since the much admired detective took a deadly plunge, fans have been anxious about his survival.

Even though it was confirmed by a teaser trailer and minisode "Many Happy Returns" on Christmas Day 2013, fans are curious to know how the detective survived the fall and faked his own death. The cliffhanger ending have made fans impatient about the suspense that is well kept and kept for long.

According to the latest report by Daily Mail, fans have taken to the blogs, microblogging site twitter, and other social media sources of the internet to talk about their theories about how Sherlock survived the famous Reichenbach fall. Numerous other Web sites have reported the floating theories of Sherlock faking his own death.

Some of the popular theories include "rubbish truck theory," "cyclist theory," "medicine theory" and more as reported by various media outlets. As per the rubbish truck theory, the rubbish/garbage truck stationed outside the St. Bart's hospital's building may have saved him from any severe damage.

The cyclist theory states that the cyclist, who bumped into Watson, was arranged by Sherlock Holmes. While the collision took place, he managed to get himself a body double and escape from the scene. There is also a medicine theory which claims that Sherlock Holmes' brother Mycroft was involved in helping him fake his death with the help of a medicine and surgeons.

Some more theories include a rubber ball theory, according to which he may have been squeezing a rubber ball that helped him stop his pulse. Yahoo UK have listed some 14 theories for how Sherlock Holmes survived Reichenbach fall and faked his death. (Read HERE)

"There's a clue everybody's missed. So many people theorising about Sherlock's death online - and they missed it," said show's creator Steven Moffat about "Sherlock's" most anticipated mystery.

The show will return on New Year's Day Jan. 1, 2014 at 9pm on BBC1 with Sherlock Season 3 Episode 1 The Empty Hearse. The episode will follow the events after two years gap. Herein Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes will undertake a new murder case of Ronald Adair along with which he will unveil the mystery of Reichenbach fall where he faked his own death.
