'The Shield' Actor Michael Jace Called Police to Confess That He Shot His Wife to Death
Michael Jace, the actors who played a cop from Los Angeles in The Shield, was charged in connection with the fatal shooting of his wife, police said on Tuesday, May 20. The actor apparently called the police himself and confessed that he had shot his wife.
According to CNN, Jace's wife April was found dead in her south Los Angeles house. Los Angeles Police Detective Lyman Doster said that the 40-year-old was found after police had been called to investigate a shooting incident. Jace, 51, was detained by police at their Hyde Park area home on Monday. He was booked on a homicide charge the next day.
According to TMZ, both the children of Jace allegedly witnessed him shooting and killing their mother April. Both the children are aged under 10. They were apparently upset after the incident and taken to the police station. The Police was reportedly angry that Children's Services took 4 hours to reach the station and take responsibility of the children. The children were eventually taken to a family member.
Jace had the most successful phase of his 22-year career in the police drama The Shield on television. He acted as Julien Lowe and appeared in 89 episodes. His character Lowe started as a rookie officer in 2002. When the series finally ended in 2008, Lowe had already become a detective. After The Shield ended, he acted in Southland which was another television drama on LA police. He acted in the series from 2009 to 2012.
Jace is known for his portrayal of a military or law enforcement officer on TV shows. He also acted in noted shows like NYPD Blue, Burn Notice, The Mentalist, Private Practice and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He played Michael Jordan in the movie made-for-TV Michael Jordan: An American Hero. The TV movie made in 1999 was about the NBA icon. Jace was also a part of State of Play which also starred Russell Crowe. He acted as a Black Panther member in Forrest Gump, the celebrated Tom Hanks movie.
