Shirtless Trend? Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum and Other Hunks Strip for Magic Mike
It most definitely is not a Hollywood trend for hunks like Matthew McConaughey, Channing Tatum and Alex Pettyfer to go shirtless. It's just a first look for what's to come in their upcoming film, "Magic Mike."
Hollywood has already had its share of shirtless hunky actors, but for this film directed by Steven Soderbergh, it promises an even better share of shirtless males and a story to go with it. "Magic Mike" stars McConaughey, Tatum and Pettyfer, all playing strippers.
McConaughey acts out the role of Dallas, former male stripper who now owns the club of strippers where Pettyfer and Tatum follow in his lead. Another male stripper included in the cast is equally beefy Joe Mangianello, who is well known for his role in the HBO series "True Blood." What was his reason for joining in the all-male joys of stripping? The actor says it all boiled down to a convincing anatomical reason. As for the lead, Matthew is supposedly a retired male stripper in the film but from the looks of the photos first released on the web, he isn't taking retirement very seriously.
So what is the film exactly on about? Male strippers dressed in military outfits with the late "Uncle Sam", not to mention shirtless, in the lead? Soderbergh fails to explain the concept of the film through the first stills released but "Magic Mike" is said to be a "Burlesque"-like melodrama with a bit of humor drilled into it. Knowing the director, he surely is not one to fail.
"Magic Mike" also stars Riley Keough, Cody Horn and Matt Bomer. One of the lucky ladies chosen to play the part in the film is none other than Olivia Munn.
As for the main lead, Matthew McConaughey, he's surely enjoying his holidays with his longtime girlfriend Camila Alves. What better way to spend Christmas than to propose to your girlfriend? Well, McConaughey had that one already covered. Here's to hoping his movie will be a hit just like his relationship with the Brazilian model. The film "Magic Mike" will be out by June 29.
