Adreian Payne of Michigan State Spartans has lost his biggest fan--Lacey Holsworth, an 8-year-old girl who succumbed to cancer. Holsworth met Payne two years ago in Michigan children's hospital. Reportedly, Payne is devastated on the loss of Holsworth as he considered her "little sister." Lacey lost her batter to cancer to neuroblastoma on April 8. Neuroblastoma is condition in which tumor develops from nerve tissues in infants and children.

Payne and Holsworth conversed with each other daily via texts. After knowing about Holsworth death, Payne told AP through a text message, "Please don't let her love and smile fade."

Lacey was also known as "Princess Lacey" to her family and friends. She was an avid basketball fan and Spartans was her favorite team. Post her death her family posted a message on the "Princess Lacey" Instagram page saying:

"Princess Lacey has achieved the ultimate victory. She now dances among angels.... The world is a better place because you were in it. Our hearts are broken. We love you Doll. Dance all night... Mommy and Daddy, Will, Mitchell, and Luke ... #LoveLikeLacey"

She met Adreian when the team paid visit to the hospital. That time Lacey was just 6-years-old. Lacey and Adrian have been like a family.

"Forever my brother. Forever my team." Lacey once captioned a photo of herself with Adreian on Instagram.

When Lacey was alive, the basketball player made sure that he attended all her birthday parties. After Spartans won the Big Ten Tournament in March, Lacey even helped Adreian cut nets. She has even given him company to the court for senior night in East Lansing. He once even attended a fundraising party for Lacey and her family.

It is a sad moment for Payne and Lucy's family and fans hope that they get strength and courage to move on. RIP Lacey Holsworth.
